HAYNES PLUMBING Brings the Heat

Emergency Hot Water

For facilities utilizing hot water that fact could not be truer. Without hot water, even for the shortest amount of time, businesses can temporarily shut down or be put out of business completely.

For years customers have relied on plumbing companies to spend countless hours correcting problems that denied them of this precious commodity. Whether it was faulty water heaters or some other issue, MB HAYNES Plumbing knew there had to be a solution. And there was—the answer, a mobile mechanical room for providing domestic hot water in crisis situations. Always thinking about the future, MB HAYNES went to the drawing board and developed the means to have a facility online with hot water in as little as 30 minutes.

According to Mike Griffin, Sr. VP MB HAYNES PLUMBING division, “The idea came to us about four years ago after spending virtually 2 days and nights back-to-back correcting a hot water outage in a nursing home and a large 190 room hotel. We had all seen mobile electrical generators and boilers so why not emulate that concept for hot water. Within a few weeks, we had designed and built, in the form of a trailer, the only emergency hot water mobile unit of this kind.”

The design and methodology of the unit is an example of engineering ingenuity. After arriving at a customer’s facility, the permanent mechanical room equipment is disconnected. In turn, the unit can connect into the cold line, 120-degree hot line, hot water recirculating line, 140-degree kitchen line, or laundry line. From there hot water can begin being produced while the permanent mechanical room is being restored.

With the ability to produce 28 gallons of hot water per minute initially at 160 degrees while delivering it down to 120 degrees is a feature that virtually any facility needs. Additionally, customers have peace of mind in knowing that the unit can run their facility indefinitely either by utilizing the onboard LP gas tanks or hooking into their own supply if they have a big enough LP tank onsite.

“The benefits to customers are enormous,” cites Senior Vice President Griffin. “No longer do they have to wait for their hot water to be restored or have to pay for Overtime Labor hours to make repairs. The emergency hot water mobile unit gets them back up and running almost immediately, eliminating a lot of stress, and preventing a lot of potential overtime charges.” Some of the types of facilities that have taken advantage of the unit include hospitals, nursing homes, apartment complexes, assisted living facilities, doctor’s offices, and restaurants.

Given the success of this remarkable hot water solution and the benefits it affords customers, it is no wonder MB HAYNES PLUMBING is set on promoting it to help customers in need. As Griffin and his team like to say, “If your facility does find itself in a hot water crisis situation, we hope you will remember four simple words — We’re Bringing the Heat!”
